Rap sensation, Drake, was born Aubrey Drake Graham on October 24, 1986. He is originally from
Toronto, Ontario,Canada. His parents are Deniss and Sandi Graham. His father is African American while his mother
is white Jewish Candian though they divorced when he was five years of age. He began acting at
Forest Hill Collegiate Institute but he did not go on to graduate.
Drake 2011 became known for his role as Jimmy on a popular Canadian television show for teens called
“Degrassi: The Next Generation. Fans were surprised to later see Drake re-emerge as a recording artist.
Drake began to find success musically before he was signed releasing free mixtapes for download.
Drake got his big break when he released his mixtape, “So Far Gone” in 2009. The mixtape featured
appearances from Lil Wayne, Omarion, Lloyd and Trey Songz. In first 2 hours of release, the “So Far Gone”
had already reached 2,000 downloads. It was named as “Hottest Mixtape of 2009” by MTV and featured
hit songs such as “Best I Ever Had” and “Successful”.
In 2009, Drake signed a record with Young Money Entertainment and his first studio album, “Thank Me Later”,
was released on June 15, 2010. “Thank Me Later” debuted at the number one spot on the Billboard chart and
sold 447,000 copies in the first week. Since then, Drake 2011 has worked with several prominent recording
artists including his mentor Lil Wayne, Kanye West, Jay-Z, and Eminem. He released “So Far Gone” as an
EP and it was nominated and recieved for several awards and he also performed at the 2010 Grammies.
Drake 2011 is only the second musician in history to have two songs in the top ten of the
Billboard Hot 100 in the same week. Drake was also able to host the firs Ovo Festival and brought
several rappers to the stage including Jay-Z, Eminem, Rick Ross, Young Jeezy, Bun B, and Fabolous.
In September, Drake 2011 also started out on his “Lights Dreams and Nightmares Tour” which hit major cities
across the U.S. and came to an end in Las Vegas on November 6, 2010.
