C.KhiD is a new rap artist who is on a journey to redefine hip hop. He uses his unique style, conscious rap flow
create a new image for hip hop music and culture.
C.KhiD was born Rodrick Rainey, in Mauldin, South Carolina. Raised in Mauldin, he acquired his name from
playing streetball with friends who nicknamed him “Kid” or “Carolina Kid”. He was inspired by famous
NBA player Kevin Garnett who is also from Mauldin and attended and played basketball at Mauldin High School.
Growing up, C.KhiD watched Garnett follow and attain his basketball dreams and this convinced him that he
was capable of doing the same.
C.KhiD began to use his basketball nickname as a signature for his artwork and pen graffiti but he eventually
decided to change it up. He was hesitant to keep calling himself a “kid” which led him to develop the acronym and
name CKHID. C.KhiD stands for “Cannot Kill How I’m Dreaming” and this has been the southern rapper’s motto ever since.
Though C.KhiD spent five years of his life living in New York City, he has managed to remain a country boy at
heart. He credits much of his success to the influence of his mother and his experience in New York. He
also draws influence from the poor, southern countryside living of Georgia from which his family migrated.
C.KhiD 2011 has been referred to by the founder of the Down South Rap Music website as, “A breath of fresh air.”
His positive rhymes do not seem to fit into the stereotypical rap mold. In 2009 C.KhiD 2011 released his first
hip hop album entitled “Black Box Dreams”. His music and music videos have been featured on
numerous music sites such as WorldStarHipHop, DatPiff, Myxer, and Sports Illustrated as well as in XXL Magazine.
C.KhiD 2011 has succeeded when it comes to marketing his own image and work. He has taken the reigns of
his music career by building his fan base through social networks such as YouTube, MySpace, and Twitter.
C.KhiD 2011 strives to stay ahead on internet and music trends. He has found much success selling his music
through Itunes and Myxer and there is no telling how high his dreams will take him in the near future!
